In her early twenties, Ji-young runs away from her stepfather's sexual assault when she is young, hangs out with friends, meets friends, and meets the conditions. However, there is a trauma to the castle due to the stepfather's sexual violence. He enters the motel on conditional meeting, but while t ... he man goes for a shower, he steals money and escapes. Then one day, she reaches the situation where she can't get out, and she reaches the brink of sex and barely escapes with the help of her friend Jun-hyeok.

The film centers on Ji-young, a woman in her early twenties whose life has been fractured by a deeply traumatic past. As a child, she was sexually abused by her stepfather, and the weight of that experience forced her to flee home. Rather than healing, she carries that trauma silently into adulthood, and it fundamentally shapes how she relates to others — particularly men.

Unable to form genuine emotional connections, Ji-young drifts through life on the margins. She engages in transactional encounters with men, not out of desire but as a survival mechanism. In a particularly telling scene, she goes to a motel with a man but has no intention of following through — while he showers, she steals his money and disappears. It's a moment that reveals both her desperation and her self-protective instincts: she takes what she needs to survive while keeping herself emotionally and physically out of reach.

Her world shifts when her friend Jun-hyeok steps in during a dangerous moment — Ji-young finds herself in a situation she cannot escape from, pushed to a breaking point, and it is Jun-hyeok who rescues her. This intervention becomes the emotional pivot of the film.

The title, Healing Mate, reflects the film's central question: can someone as deeply wounded as Ji-young actually heal? And can another person serve as the catalyst for that healing, or is recovery something that must come from within?The film wrestles with trauma, survival, and the complicated psychology of abuse victims. Ji-young is not portrayed as a simple victim — she is resourceful, guarded, and sometimes morally ambiguous in her choices. The film doesn't shy away from the long shadow that childhood abuse casts over adult intimacy, identity, and self-worth. It's a raw, adult drama that blends elements of romance with psychological heaviness.
